Swimming Tapes / Share Acoustic Cut Of 'Tides' As They Start Work On Their Debut LP
Swimming Tapes have today treated fans to an acoustic version of ‘Tides’, a much-loved track which featured on their debut EP, ‘Souvenirs’ released one year ago almost to the day. The throwback arrives as the band step into the studio to work on their anticipated debut album which is expected later this year.
2017 was a pivotal year for Swimming Tapes. The now London based 5-piece released 2 EPs on the burgeoning indie label Hand In Hive, earning significant acclaim from the likes of KCRW, Beats 1, and Annie Mac for their dreamy shoegaze songs that instantly whisk the listener away to sunnier climes in a swirling sonic haze. With a growing following, over 5 million streams on Spotify alone, and multiple headline shows selling out, Swimming Tapes wrapped an exciting year with a personal highlight - a session at Maida Vale studios for BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.
Their growing popularity and hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed - Swimming Tapes were recently announced alongside Nilufer Yanya, INHEAVEN, and Black Honey as, one of twenty UK musicians hand-picked by the PRS Foundation for the latest round of Momentum Funding, awarded to the most promising new artists on the cusp of breakthrough success.
Swimming Tapes will first emerge from the studio to play a handful of regional shows in April as well as Liverpool Sound City festival in early May and are expected to announce more over the coming months.
